I am a photographer originating from Belfast,
Northern Ireland. I currently divide my time between there and
London, where I am in my final year of studying for a BA Hons in
Photography at the London College of Communication/Printing
(University of the Arts London). I also spend as much time as
possible on the other side of the Atlantic, in both New York City
and Florida, places which have diversely acted as great creative
havens for me. I discovered photography when I was about sixteen years old when picked up my dad's old camera and started shooting photos on a Florida beach one summer afternoon. However, it took a few years for me to begin to take it seriously. Photography was a natural progression for me as I had been involved in just about every other form of art since I was a young child, from painting to illustration, dramatic arts to graphics, with everything in between. From time to time I try to incorporate all of these influences in my work. My biggest influences are both travel and cinema. I'm inspired by places, how diverse locations can be and how human life varies from place to place, and I love how your mood and presence can be completely changed depending on where you are. Cinema has always been my main interest, to construct stories through imagery, to alter peoples minds and transport them to elsewhere through a single frame is a notion that I find quite alluring. A lot of my work is staged, even though I started out with a drive towards documentary photography, I'm incredibly fascinated with the art of staged photography and the reactions it gets. I like concepts a lot, but I'm pretty insistent on strong visuals to match the concept. When I'm not out shooting photographs, researching or busy with University life, I'm into horror makeup artistry, all forms of art and design, politics and all of the other things that come along with being a twenty-something female.
